The Project

This is especially true in the Arctic Circle. Store Norske is a Norwegian coal mining company based on the Svalbard archipelago. They utilised Inspec Solutions equipment for the Svea Nord longwall mine, with an annual output of 2 million tonnes of bituminous coal.

Average summer temperatures on Svalbard range from 3 to 7 °C (37.4 to 44.6 °F) in July, and winter temperatures from −13 to −20 °C (8.6 to −4.0 °F) in January, requiring specially heated electrical cables to ensure continuity of supply.
Inspec Solutions have supplied a total of nineteen CHP-style, and seven TCS-style, multi-contactor power centres and load centres for longwall mining and coal clearance operations at Svea Nord, with transformer sizes up to 2MVA. These units have provided reliable operation in adverse conditions. The Inspec Solutions equipment is specially adapted for this territory with dual-language display systems capable of transitioning from Norwegian to English and back again at the touch of a key.
